ANTICIPATED FACULTY POSITION 2008-2009

FACULTY POSITION (10 Months)

Open faculty positions are full-time tenure-track or multi-year assignments, effective September 1, 2008 unless otherwise indicated. Rank is Assistant Professor unless otherwise specified. Courses to be taught at the Union campus unless otherwise indicated. All faculty are expected to demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and an on-going program of research and publication or creative and performance activity. Participation in curriculum development, student advisement and service at the departmental, college and university level is also expected. Interest or experience in using advanced instructional technologies to improve the teaching/learning process is highly desirable. Minorities, women and individuals fluent in a second language are encouraged to apply.

COLLEGE OF NATURAL, APPLIED AND HEALTH SCIENCES

Computer Science - to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the newly organized Information Technology program starting September 2008. Expertise in the following areas desirable: telecommunications, networking, pervasive/physical computing, multimedia/gaming/visualization systems and web systems. Ph.D. in Computer Science/Engineering/IT required, ABD considered with completion date by June 2008. Excellent communication skills required; demonstrated commitment to and success in teaching at the undergraduate level highly desirable. Computer Science department at Kean University offers B.S. in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology. Graduate courses are offered for M.S. in Management Information Systems and M.S. in Computing, Statistics and Mathematics programs for Graduate Management and Mathematics departments, respectively. Computer Science facilities include five dedicated computer science classrooms each with 21 PC workstations and overhead media projectors connected to a PC workstation for the instructor. Three specialized lab/classrooms are Multimedia Lab, Electronics Lab, and Networking Lab. Two Beowulf clusters, a 16-node P5 3.0GHz cluster and a 130+node (6-TFLOPS) cluster will be installed in May, 2008.
