The Competition Software

The contest will be run from bootable CD-ROM's, based on a Fedora Core 7 Linux distribution. The CD image is complete and has been "frozen". The only changes (if any) that will be made before the contest date are those involving error and security fixes. You can download the CD image (MD5 checksum = 82371fe83bbe0cf5d7731d8ff32db29e) for practice sessions. Each CD supports a login account named "user" with "user" as its password (and /tmp for a home directory). Details on the configuration and creation of the CD are at http://eve.kean.edu/~leew/contest/.

The CD used on contest day will be modified to work with the actual contest environment, but these modifications will not affect contestants in any way. Each team will have the same initial desktop (screen shot), with shortcuts added on the top panel for PC^2 team login, a command-line terminal, a web browser (directed to the contest scoreboard), and a password-protected screen saver.

A complete list of installed packages is in rpmpkgs.

PC2 (version 8.7) will be installed on the server.
